Eibau is in Upper Lusatia (Oberlausitz), a region with a very beautiful landscape, in the south-eastern tip of Saxony, Germany. Linen-weaving and trading have a long tradition here. In around the mid-16th century, the typical timber-framed Upper Lusatian houses were first built, where linen-weaving families later operated their hand looms. Along with industrialisation, weaving factories developed which worked with mechanised looms. Today, there are still a few weaving mills in Upper Lusatia which keep up this centuries-old tradition.

House in the Upper Lusatia
Other places in Upper Lusatia are also known for their textiles tradition and, like our company base, Eibau, have earned themselves a reputation extending well beyond the walls of their own towns. The lovely Upper Lusatia is worth a visit at any time of year.

Wide meadows, picturesque hills and sleepy towns draw visitors for cycling, walking and sight-seeing.  www.oberlausitz.de
